FOOTAGE of Irish golf legends playing skins golf has emerged on social media.

Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry and Padraig Harrington played the cash game ahead of the 2023 Open Championship.

The game of skins is normally played when you have either a three or fourball (3 or 4 players playing individually), each hole is worth one 'skin'.

That skin is often allocated a monetary value. If a player wins the first hole outright (full handicap is applied) they get the skin.

If nobody wins outright, the skin is carried over and the next hole is worth two skins. This continues until someone wins a hole outright.

When that happens, the next hole will be worth one skin again. The player with the most skins at the end of the round is the winner.

The Irish PGA Tour lcon's hold an incredible 8 major titles between them and had the fun game ahead of last week's Open at Royal Liverpool.

2019 Open champion Shane Lowry picked up the win in the game but it's unknown how much money was wagered between the players.

Although, the Clara star Lowry hilariously mocked Rory McIlroy after the win over the world number as he jokingly revealed the money on offer.

When quizzed by an on-course presenter about what the bet for the match was, the 36-year-old responded by hilariously saying it was McIlroy's purse from winning last weekend at The Renaissance Club.

The 36-year-old jokingly said: "What was the bet on that one - McIlroy's paycheque from last week."

Meanwhile, Lowry was spotted enjoying dinner with three of Ireland's best rugby players.

ohnny Sexton joined Ireland teammates Peter O' Mahony and Conor Murray as they dined with compatriot Shane Lowry.

The Irish PGA Tour star was pictured with the rugby players as all enjoyed a break from training and competition from the respective sports.

All four of the Irish sporting legends seemed to be enjoying one another's company as they enjoyed some drinks and dinner in a sunny European resort.

Back-row ace Peter O'Mahony shared the snap on Instagram alongside teammate Conor Murray, Johnny Sexton and Shane Lowry as the sporting stars were all smiles.
