Over the weekend, images started popping up on Twitter with behind-the-scenes shots of Paul Mescal looking all bruised and bloodied on the set of Gladiator II. Which is intense. But at Gucci's Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025 today, the All of Us Strangers was back to his regular programming – albeit with a slight upgrade.

Swapping his bronze chestplate and kilt for something a little more Mescal (boxer shorts worn as short shorts, with stripes), the Irish actor was spotted on the front row with a light blue shirt, with the top two and bottom two buttons undone. Yes, that's a tried-and-tested combo for anyone who wants to go a bit preppy and a bit slutty at the same time. But for Mescal, a guy that converted countless men into PE teacher-core menswear, it's an elevation without veering too far from the look that became his signature.

He then finished off the hot boy summer look with the Cartier Tank Square Incurvée strapped to his wrist. First introduced in the ‘60s, this is basically an ultra-rare version of the classic Tank with a tonneau case, rounded corners, and a clean white dial. It’s simply, and clean, and a perfect watch for a look that's polished without trying too hard.

It's night and day compared to the supervillain-coded get-up that the Oscar nominee wore at the Cruise show last month. But it's the ultimate representation of Sabato de Sarno's pared back vision for Gucci – and an advanced class at the Paul Mescal school of big fits.
