Phil Foden has temporarily left England's Euro 2024 camp in Germany due to a "pressing family matter".

The 24-year-old Manchester City star played in the side's 0-0 draw with Slovenia last night.

An FA spokesperson said the father-of-two had "temporarily left the England camp and returned to the UK for a pressing family matter".

Foden and his girlfriend are reportedly expecting their third child.

The result last night was enough to send Gareth Southgate's team through as winners of Group C.

Although the Three Lions have come under criticism over lacklustre performances in their group games, they managed to head into the knockouts in the strongest possible position.

Foden has played in England's three Group C games in Germany.

It is unclear if he will return to the squad in time for its last-16 match on Sunday.

His absence could be a blow for England's chances at the tournament.

Foden made his debut for Manchester City in 2017.

He has made over 200 appearances for the club and won 15 honours.

He made his debut for the senior England team in September 2020 and was part of the England teams for UEFA Euro 2020, the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2024.
