Kilmacrennan woman's picture up there with the best in 2023

It was a year of beautiful and often terrifying images.

Be it the war in Ukraine or the violence on the streets of Dublin, the world’s events were once again captured on film.

The Irish Times magazine this week focused on those photos in a special edition entitled ‘Photos of the year – 2023 through a lens’

And as well as those huge images of world events, a Kilmacrennan woman’s beautiful picture of her twins swinging in the snow in their back garden was also included.

The picture, taken by Mona Feeney, showed her 3-year-old twins Ruth and Cora, donning their red wellies and enjoying the most simple of fun.

The image was chosen by Irish Times picture editor Laura Hutton as one of her pictures of the year.
