Pictured at the blessing of the restored Archbishop Patrick Leahy statue in the yard of the Cathedral of the Assumption, Thurles before Christmas are Noel Ryan, Heritage Masonry; Fr. Jim Purcell, PP, Thurles Parish; Joe Bracken, Parish Pastoral Team; Tony O’Brien; Stephen Bourke, Sculptor; Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly, Archbishop of Cashel and Emly; P.J. Ryan, Ryan Construction Ltd.; Fr George Ranahan, Pallottine Fathers.

The statue has attracted a lot of interest over the Festive Season, as has the wonderful crib erected inside the Cathedral itself.

One of the highlights of the year is the unveiling of the crib, and Thurles parish encourages all families to come and visit the crib, spend some time in the peace and quiet of the Cathedral and re-engage with the simplicity of the nativity story.
