Workers were unable to receive their wages as usual and other payments were held up due to an IT problem at PTSB on Friday.
Coming on the last Friday of the month and the busy shopping day of Black Friday, customers were left frustrated by the issue which meant payments weren’t showing up in their accounts.
Many took to social media to air their concerns on Friday morning, with the likes of wages, pensions, and payments all affected.
It came just a few weeks after PTSB customers were affected by a separate issue which meant customers couldn’t access online services.
In a statement, the bank said: “Due to a technical issue with a third-party payments provider, some customers may be experiencing delays when sending or receiving SEPA payments. All other PTSB services are operating as normal.
“We are working hard to resolve the issue and expect it to be resolved for the majority of customers by mid-morning.
“We will provide further updates via our website, social media, and mobile app. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and wish to assure our customers that they will not experience any financial detriment as a result of this issue.”
It is understood that PTSB is one of at least 10 banks across Europe impacted by this issue with the third party.
