Rachel Gorry has admitted that she was ‘a little bit naïve’ to think she would never find love again after her husband passed away and that she knows he’d fully support her new relationship.

The mum-of-three was widowed at 29 when her childhood sweetheart Daniel died from cancer in April 2020 and knows nothing will ever replace the love they shared.

Now four years on, Rachel has met her new partner Adrien and she knows that Daniel would approve of her finding happiness once more.

Speaking to RSVP magazine, she said: ‘Daniel always made it very clear, not only to me, but to his family and my family, that he didn’t want me to be on my own. He was very vocal about it. I never wanted to hear about it, I never wanted to have that conversation.’

Rachel, who is mum to Leah, 14, Holly, 10, and Hannah, eight, said that in the years since Daniel passed, loneliness crept in and she started to consider what her late husband wanted.

‘I might have been a little bit naïve to think that I would spend the rest of life by myself. My family and friends were always fantastic, they’re really amazing, but I think it’s mad how you can be in a room full of people and still feel so alone,’ she said.

Rachel went public with her new partner earlier this year, and Adrien seems to have settled into her family extremely well, even joining Rachel and her eldest Leah for a night away for her birthday.

‘I think especially when you’ve loved and you’ve lost, if you’re lucky enough to ever find that love again, you never want to let it go,’ she said.
