Marcus Rashford took to social media following his side's dramatic derby victory over Manchester City at the Etihad. The 27-year-old, who was left out of the squad by new gaffer Ruben Amorim along with youngster Alejandro Garnacho, saw United struggle in the first hour and fall behind to a Josko Gvardiol header.

City looked set to grind out the victory before Matheus Nunes' felled Amad Diallo in the area, giving Bruno Fernandes the chance to level the scores. And just minutes later, the United youngster turned the game on its head by finding the net from a narrow angle.

Rashford's post-match Instagram reaction simply exclaimed: "Yesssssssss! Love it lads," paired with a duo of red love hearts, shared from his space.

Speaking before the game, Amorim confirmed he had decided to leave Rashford and Garnacho out of the squad. He said: "We try to evaluate everything - training, performance, game performance, engagement with the teammates, push the teammates up.

"Everything is on the line when we analyze and try to choose the players, so it was my selection. Simple. I don't want to send a message (to the dressing room with this). It's simply an evaluation, and they know it.

"The players are really, really smart and so everybody understands my decision and I have to choose. It's just a simple selection. Of course the context is difficult - we have to win games and we have a difficult situation now.

"But, like I said, I pay attention to everything - the way you eat, the way you put on your clothes to go the game. Everything."

This significant victory edged United closer to the coveted Champions League berths, trailing by six points, whilst City floundered in a precious chance to slash Liverpool's lead atop the table.
