Lamine Yamal scored his first ever El Clásico goal as Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu to end their 42-game La Liga unbeaten run and go six points clear.

The margins were incredibly fine in the first half, with Madrid threatening regularly but finding themselves caught offside remarkably often.

Los Blancos were ultimately caught offside 12 times over the course of the match, their most in a league game since March 2013 (also 12 vs Celta Vigo), with two of those incidents seeing Kylian Mbappé goals disallowed.

Barcelona had no such issues, however, and scored twice in quick succession via Robert Lewandowski early in the second half, his first a clinical finish from the edge of the box and his second a well-placed header.

Those were his first two shots of the match and he should have scored with his next couple as well, hitting the post when presented with an open goal, before blasting over from close range soon after.

There was no sign of Madrid punishing such let-offs, though. Yamal emphatically smashed home at the end of a flowing move 13 minutes from time to become the youngest Clásico goalscorer in La Liga this century aged 17 years, 105 days old.

Raphinha then continued his tremendous early season form with a delicate lob over the stranded Andriy Lunin in the 84th minute to wrap up a statement win at the home of Barcelona’s biggest rivals.

It meant Madrid’s 42-game unbeaten run in La Liga was halted one match short of equalling Barcelona’s all-time record of 43.
