Recently fired New York Jets coach Robert Saleh didn’t receive “fair treatment” after being informed he would no longer continue with the organization, according to multiple reports.

Reports indicate that Saleh was prohibited from having any contact with players and was also “escorted” out of the building by security personnel.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the order to escort him came directly from the team’s owners, and he wasn’t allowed to say goodbye to the team, which reportedly surprised many members of the organization.

Why Was Robert Saleh Fired?

The 45-year-old coach had accumulated a 2-3 record this NFL season, with his last game ending in a 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London. Following the news of his firing, defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich was appointed as interim head coach.

There is still time to decide who will formally take over Saleh’s position, though names like Pete Carroll, Bill Belichick, or Mike Vrabel are already being mentioned as potential candidates.

Saleh’s relationship with quarterback Aaron Rodgers was particularly scrutinized this season, starting with an awkward exchange between the two in Week 3. On that occasion, Rodgers appeared to avoid a hug from his coach, fueling speculation about their relationship.

Saleh’s comments about changing Rodgers’ pre-snap cadence after the 10-9 loss to the Denver Broncos added to the debate over the state of their relationship. Although the coach later retracted his statements, both insisted there was no bad blood between them.
