"I want to say happy father's day to all the fathers out there," says Bryson DeChambeau as he accepts the trophy.

"Unfortunately my dad passed a couple years ago. This one is for him."

He had the chances. He was two shots up with five to play. Having putted phenomenally all day, the touch deserted him on the final two holes as he missed two short ones down the stretch. Bryson DeChambeau was there to punish him, and his up and down on the last was something special.

That's the bunker shot that won the US Open.

Bryson DeChambeau holes the putt and he's the US Open champion for the second time in his life.

He made an incredible sand-save on the final hole and unfortunately for Rory McIlroy, those two missed putts on the last three holes will haunt him for the rest of his life.

Bryson DeChambeau has played an incredible bunker shot to three foot. 

That to win the US Open.

Bryson plays out to a bunker fifty yards from the pin. Get up and down and he's the US Open champion. If he doesn't, then the boys will have a two-hole play-off.

The game isn't over yet because back down the way, Bryson DeChambeau has found an awful lie in the native.

Rory misses the putt. He babied it, it breaks to the right and he misses. It's his second miss from close range in the last three holes of the tournament.

Great chip from Rory. He has two foot for par. Bryson has gone wild and left off the tee. THE DRAMA!

Rory is about three yards short of the green, and about ninety feet from the hole on the last. He couldn't have done much more there.

Bryson didn't hit it...

He leaves it short. They remain level, with one hole to go.

Rory whips out the driver on eighteen and it goes left and into the native. The Sky Sports commentators were confused as to why he didn't take out the three wood there. The latest update is that the lie isn't all that bad, and that he may be able to make something out of it.

Huge putt coming up now for Bryson. This could win it for him.

What a shot from Bryson.

He plays a beautiful tee-shot and has a twelve footer for birdie on seventeen.

Rory makes the par save on seventeen. There was tension in the air thee but he holds his nerve.

He has one hole to go. Bryson has two. Here we go.

Bryson drops to his knees as his putt doesn't break enough and shaves the cup on the way by. 

He taps in the par as, a hole ahead, Rory plays a good bunker shot to three foot but after what happened on the last hole... there are no guarantees.

Rory finds the bunker on seventeen. He went for the fade but the ball never came back in. It's not in the worst of places, but he'll need to get up and down again. 

Bryson sets up a birdie opportunity on sixteen.

That was a lovely shot from DeChambeau who plays it into fifteen foot.
