Scotland international Adam Hastings produced a sensational piece of skill to help his country to a fine score.

Gregor Townsend's Scots hosted Fiji on the first weekend of the autumn internationals and Hastings was at hand to light up proceedings as he threw a pass out the back door.

Following the perfectly-executed offload, Huw Jones gathered and fed Duhan van der Merwe for his 29th try - the record for Scotland. Van der Merwe had been level with Darcy Graham prior to the touchdown, with the latter securing four tries on the night.

The commentary team, which included Nick Mullins, John Barclay and Rory Lawson, were blown away by the moment of class. One of either Barclay or Lawson could be heard gasping into the microphone as Mullins described the sequence.

"Well, he's scratching his head," began former Scarlets flanker Barclay. "I think most of the people are saying - 'He's amazed!' - and the reason he's amazed is because of the quality of this pass from Adam Hastings.

"Scotland find that shape. That is the filthiest back door pass you will ever see from Adam Hastings.

The footage has been posted to social media, and fans have been loving it. "No right to throw that pass. Have a look at this, what an unbelievable piece of skill. The vision, the confidence to do it."

"I've seen some great ways to #FeedTheDuhan - but this is right up there. What a piece of skill from Hastings!" said one.

"Patrick Mahomes and (Travis) Kelce can only dream of a behind the back pass like this said another," said another.

"Adam Hastings that was disgusting, man," said one.

Even former Wales rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit posted the try to his Instagram story, with the caption: "@adamhastings96 (fire emoji)."

It was a fine start to the Autumn Nations series for Scotland, defeating their Pacific Islander opponents 57-17 at Murrayfield, with eight tries on the board.

Elsewhere on opening weekend of the autumn internationals, England were edged 24-22 by the All Blacks at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham.
