Hollywood star Russell Crowe visited a popular steakhouse in Dublin yesterday while on a trip over here with his band.

The Gladiator actor came straight from Glastonbury to Ireland to perform his Indoor Garden Party at the Gaiety Theatre.

But first on the menu for the actor was a visit to French steakhouse Boeuf on South William Street before the gig.

“He said he kept seeing us on TikTok and was dying to pop in for ages!” the staff at Boeuf posted on Instagram.

“Great to cya in the Boeuf @russellcrowe with head Chef @ericklustroso and the team at Boeuf South William Street!”

Mr Crowe brought his Indoor Garden Party back to Ireland for the first time since 2017 last night, alongside his special guest Janet Devlin.

According to the actor and musician, an Indoor Garden Party is, “an event, a band, a happening”.

“It’s fluid. The personnel changes, but it’s always big. It’s like a festival where I gather people I admire, musicians and storytellers, and we put on a show,” he said.

The relationships within the band go back 30 years. Dave Kelly (drums) and Stewart Kirwan (trumpet) were members of Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts.

They also played with Crowe in The Ordinary Fear of God, which included Stu Hunter (piano), and in its touring form also included Chris Kamzelas (guitar). James Hazelwood (bass) has fit right in and shares friendships within the band that go back decades.

The Australian actor has built a strong connection with Ireland over the years after he filmed horror film The Pope’s Exorcist in Dublin, Wicklow and Limerick.

He also became close friends with former Late Late Show presenter Ryan Tubridy during his time here.
