Rylan Clark

Rylan Clark has been supported by fans as he told them it 'can't get worse' as he helped them welcome in 2024. In a 'first' in more than a decade, the BBC Radio 2 star was seen taking to the stage and belting out a song with none other than Rick Astley to end the year and welcomed a new one on Sunday night (December 31).

Rylan returned to his roots - and we don't mean ditching his jet black locks - as the 34-year-old appeared as part of the 'Never Gonna Give You Up' hitmaker's BBC One show New Year’s Eve Rocks which was pre-recorded at the Roundhouse in Camden and aired before the annual firework spectacular took place in the capital.

Rylan joined Rick on stage and the pair sang their own rendition of You Spin Me Round. And as he celebrated the New Year with family and friends, former X Factor star Rylan, who shot to fame in the ITV signing competition in 2012, had a message to share on social media.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the TV and radio presenter wrote: "It can’t get worse than me singing you into the new year. 2024 is on the up from here. Happy New Year."

It came after he shared a selfie taken from the sofa of his Essex pad and said: "New Year, new me and all that b*****ks. HNY x." But his fans and followers were quick to show their support to his singing return.

@ellendoolansw commented: "You were fabulous, loved the Sparkly string vest, Happy New Year. You've been rickrolled and spun right round." @James_Ashton22 wrote: "It was bloody good, happy new year you f*****g icon." @KW04 replied: "You were amazing. We all cheered when you got on stage with Rick. We had the perfect night at home as a family..thank-you."

@LucyGyTown posted: "Rylan, I really enjoyed it - you were ace! You deserve your place there xx happy new year." @TimGatt tweeted: "What better start to 2024 than @Rylan singing You Spin Me Round with @RickAstley , just minutes after midnight?
