The fork-tongued beast slid out the bush and near to Sam, where he was asleep.

But the I’m A Celebrity team snuck into the bush in time to pluck the deadly creature out before any harm was done.

A source said: “The celebrities are made aware of the types of animals to look out for in the jungle, but of course it goes without saying they are under constant watch by the experienced rangers who know exactly when they need to jump to action.

“This was one of these moments.

“The small eyed snake could’ve just slithered on its way but there’s no chance ITV would let any harm be done, it’s just not worth the risk with species this deadly.

“So rangers crept into camp and were able to scoop it up without even waking the celebs.”

It comes after First Dates’ Fred Sirieix was rushed to the camp medic after being struck by a jungle tick.

Crew leapt into action after the telly maitre d was attacked by the blood sucking pest, sweeping him out of camp and into the care unit off camera.

Viewers saw Fred exclaim over finding the bug on his arm this week before The Sun can reveal he was rushed for urgent care off screen.

A source said: “Ticks can be nasty and have a number of risks associated with them - you certainly can’t risk removing them incorrectly or risk knocking them off yourself.

“Entry wounds can also become infected.

“Fred was fine but it’s just not worth running the risk so he was swept straight to medics off camera.”

Fred noticed the tick had burrowed into his skin on Thursday and he summoned his co-stars to view the increasingly burgeoning bug.

Looking at Fred's arm, Danielle exclaimed: "Oh my gosh," telling Nella: "I've never seen anything like it, it's head was in his arm."

Sam Thompson, speaking in the Bush Telegraph, added: "It was very interesting for us to see how it had burrowed its head into his skin. The face was in there sucking on his blood."

Whilst ticks are not deadly, they can carry bacteria that cause debilitating conditions including Lyme Disease.
