Read Daniel McDonnell's account from Tolka Park, where Shelbourne avoided a third straight defeat and Shamrock Rovers didn't do enough to claim a third win on the trot:

With manager John Caulfield suspended, Galway United earn a point at the Showgrounds to climb the table. Here's Jessica Farry's match report:

Derry City boss Ruaidhrí Higgins will be satisfied after watching his team get back to winning ways:

It's safe to say Shels manager Damien Duff isn't happy with Shane Farrell after his red card:

Man of the match at Tolka Park, Shelbourne defender Paddy Barrett, speaks to Virgin Media after the final whistle:

Tonight's results at a glance

Shelbourne keep hold of top spot, with Shamrock Rovers still second, after a hard-fought draw on a really poor pitch. A convincing win for Derry City means they're level with the Hoops and Bohemians on 19 points as the Candystripes bounce back from Friday's defeat.Tonight's point sees Galway United move up to fifth place, while Sligo Rovers are seventh.

Full-time: Sligo Rovers 0-0 Galway United

Full-time: Shelbourne 0-0 Shamrock RoversDan McDonnell is our man at Tolka Park: A game that started promisingly became a scrappy battle peppered with yellow cards.

The red card didn't succeed in opening things up with Shels digging deep to earn their point with Paddy Barrett and Gavin Molloy impressive in central defence.

Darragh Burns got sight of goal in the dying stages but his shot was deflected wide by a fine JJ Lunney block

Full-time: Derry City 3-1 St Patrick's Athletic

We're into the last couple of minutes of regulation time and, as it stands, Derry City will be the big winners tonight.

Still nothing between them in the Connacht derby

Sligo Rovers manager John Russell has brought on attacking players Wilson Waweru, Stefan Radosavljevic and Rein Smit as the home side look to produce a late winner.

Aodh Dervin and Conor O'Keeffe have been introduced by Galway in the last few minutes, meanwhile.

Shels down to ten men!

It's over to Dan McDonnell: We have a stoppage here as Shelbourne keeper Conor Kearns goes down. As a Shels teamtalk ensues, Stephen Bradley suggests Kearns may not be struggling that badly. He is booked for his complaints.

Now it's a red card for Shane Farrell. After picking up a quick booking after his arrival, an over eager tackle on Darragh Nugent earns him a second yellow and Shels are down to 10.

With 20 minutes to play, Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers have yet to break the deadlock. As Dan McDonnell explains, however, there have been slight improvements:

This game has picked up a bit in the last few minutes after a drab opening to the second half.

Aaron Greene and Rory Gaffney have been sprung by Rovers, while Shels have also made a double change with Shane Farrell booked shortly after his introduction.

Conor Kearns and Leon Pohls are being tested with their feet rather than their hands, though.

It's all happening at the Brandywell! Crazy stuff, there's been three goals in 11 minutes of the second half.

Still celebrating after scoring their first, Pat's concede a corner and Mullen directs a header on target to double his tally.

Saints hit back almost immediately! Pat's respond in the perfect fashion as Brandon Kavanagh's free-kick is whipped across the goal. Conor Keeley holds off Mark Connolly to head home. 2-1.

Hoban doubles Derry's lead! St Pat's now find themselves two goals down. With 52 minutes on the clock, the league's top scorer, Pat Hoban, does what he does best – diverting Connolly's cross over the line.

A poignant moment at Tolka Park

Not for the first time in the past few days, LOI fans have remembered those who lost their lives on February 14, 1981. Dan McDonnell reports:

There's a round of applause in the 48th minute to commemorate the victims of the Stardust tragedy in light of events this week – with Shels fans producing a banner referring to how justice had been delivered too late.

The Stardust site is around 20-25 minute walk from here.
