Drogheda pulled a goal back shortly after the re-start through their Donegal midfielder and former Rovers player Jack Keaney.
However, Rovers managed to see the game out for the 2-1 win to claim all three points.
Team manager John Russell spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Odhrán Keating after the game:
Rovers also announced on Monday that they have signed winger Stephen Mallon (pictured) on an 18 month deal.
The Belfast native joins the Bit O’Red after a spell at local side Cliftonville and previously played for Bohemians and Derry City.
Mallon has signed a pre-contract to join up with Rovers on July 1st subject to international transfer clearance.
