It'll be an emotional affair for Seamus Coleman, who will face his old club Sligo, from where he moved to Everton for the famous fee of £60,000 16 years ago.

And Blues supporters who have flown to Ireland for the game will be hoping to get a first glimpse of new signings Tim Iroegbunam and Iliman Ndiaye, while Jack Harrison is back after a successful loan from Leeds United last season.

The match is the first of a busy summer schedule for Everton, who are also scheduled to face Salford City, Coventry City, Preston North End and AS Roma before the Premier League season gets underway against Brighton & Hove Albion at Goodison Park on August 17.

The game with Sligo gets underway at 4pm and the ECHO have Joe Thomas in Ireland to bring you live team news, analysis, updates and interviews. He'll also have the latest after Dan Friedkin's attempt to takeover the club collapsed.

Everton player ratings as Chermiti saves the day at Sligo

Youssef Chermiti curls in Everton's equaliser at Sligo Rovers

Sean Dyche used 22 players for Everton's first pre-season friendly of the summer - 11 in each half - an entertaining 3-3 draw at Seamus Coleman's former club Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds.

Youssef Chermiti was predictably the Blues' star man with his late brace to earn a share of the spoils but click here for all the player ratings.

Dyche says Tarkowski has a minor niggle

Everton manager Sean Dyche has been speaking about James Tarkowski's fitness after the centre-back missed the 3-3 draw at Sligo Rovers.

The Blues boss says the 31-year-old has got a minor niggle and they've got to be careful with him.

He adds: "We’ve got a few niggles and we’ve got to monitor their workloads. So we’re hopeful with Tarky. Jarrad, Patto and Dele also making progress."

Dyche also said they did 13.5k yesterday.

Sean Dyche on James Tarkowski

The Everton boss has been speaking to the club after the game and he was asked about James Tarkowski, who missed the match through injury...

Got a minor niggle. Got to be careful. We’ve got a few niggles and we’ve got to monitor their workloads. We’re hopeful with Tarky. Jarrad (Branthwaite), Patto (Nathan Patterson) and Dele (Alli) are also making progress.

Youssef Chermiti reacts

Youssef Chermiti, whose two goals earned Everton a 3-3 draw, has speaking to the club, post-match...

It was a good test for us. It’s our first game, now we have to get better. We’ve been training for two weeks but that was our first game. It was very good to play in front of our fans who have travelled from Liverpool to here. (On his first goal) Yeah, it was a bit of new skill there! My aim for this season is to get more minutes and get more games. I was talking with Seamus (Coleman) and I was saying how nice his country is.

17:51KEY EVENT

Final whistle: 3-3

A six goal thriller for Seamus Coleman's emotional return to the Showgrounds.

A big relief from Everton too as after their string of misses, they managed to produce a late comeback to earn a share of the spoils. Full-time 3-3.

17:46KEY EVENT

GOAL: Sligo 3 Everton 3

Chermiti again!

The ball falls to the Portuguese striker's feet and he curls a slick finish past the keeper and in a matter of moments, Everton are suddenly level with five minutes to go.

17:45KEY EVENT

GOAL: Sligo 3 Everton 2

Chermiti has been guilty of some poor misses but he pulls a goal back with a cheeky back-heel.

The striker was teed up by a low pass from Harrison.

17:44Chris Beesley

Harrison curls one wide

Everton have a chance with a free-kick from just outside the area but Harrison curls his shot wide.

More frustration from the Blues whose finishing has been poor.

17:37Chris Beesley

Chermiti should score

That's another bad miss from Everton.

Beto puts it on a plate for compatriot Chermiti but he shoots straight at Sligo's substitute keeper. Not clinical enough.

17:34Joe Thomas

Ndiaye brings gasps from the crowd

Everton have a good chance now as Harrison bursts forward only to be brought down 30 yards out, on the Everton right. A good crossing opportunity this - but nothing comes of it. Everton are on top in these final stages and Ndiaye brings some 'oooohhs' from the crowd as he jinks in and out of challenges before laying off Young. I think Ndiaye and Iroegbunam have both played quite nicely in this half.

17:30Joe Thomas

Standing ovation for Walsh

A standing ovation for Sligo goalkeeper Conor Walsh as he he subbed off with 20 minutes to go. Walsh has been excellent, producing big saves from McNeil, Doucoure and Beto to keep his side on top in this match. He is replaced by Gabbidon.

17:29Chris Beesley

Frustrating evening for Everton

A full set of 22 players used so far by Everton but it's not got any better.

This second half side have had more of a go, trying to reduce a two-goal deficit but like their counterparts before the break, they've been guilty of some poor misses.

And then there's Mason Holgate who went from hero to villain after giving his side a lifeline.

It's early doors in terms of the summer but not an encouraging start so far against what is a bit of a fringe Sligo side given they have a cup tie on Sunday.

17:23Joe Thomas

Tempo slows as Everton search for a foothold

Beto and Chermiti link up well to allow Beto to shoot at Walsh - but he saves again. The tempo has dropped a little bit after that third goal for Sligo. I'm sure Everton would love to pull some goals back but think it's important to remember this is pre-season and the players have done two days of double sessions in the past three. I'm hoping to speak to Dyche later and I am sure he will make very clear the result is not what he is looking for here.

17:18KEY EVENT

Sligo go two ahead again

Wow. It's a calamity from Everton, who had just got back into this game and were dominating. Holgate, the goalscorer, sells Tyrer short with a back pass. A Sligo player slides in and flicks the ball to Muldoon, who fires into an empty net. All of a sudden we have more Madness, One Step Beyond, and more cheering from the home supporters.

17:14KEY EVENT

2-1 - Holgate

Everton keep on coming and a poor corner from Harrison is easily dealt with - only for him to pick up the clearance 35 yards out and put in a perfect left-footed cross to the back post. Chermiti has drifted off the back of his marker and he heads across goal to Holgate, who nods in from close range. Everton deserve that - but who had Holgate on their bingo card!?

17:10Joe Thomas

How is it not 2-1?

Oh wow. How have Everton not scored! Chermiti shimmies through on goal but his effort is blocked bravely before Beto's attempt on the follow up is deflected out for a corner - that comes to nothing.

17:09Joe Thomas

Ndiaye looks lively as Everton take control

Ashley Young wins a corner but Garner's cross is claimed by that man again... Sligo keeper Conor Walsh. It is all Everton in these early stages though, and most of the threat is coming down the left with Young, Chermiti and Ndiaye linking well, at times with Iroegbunam. Ndiaye is keen for the ball and he cuts in from the left, carries the ball across the box but probably opts to shoot a little bit too late and he cannot hook his foot around the ball, leading to it flying wide.

17:06Joe Thomas

Chermiti almost scores at the start of the half

And a big chance to start - Iroegbunam slips Chermiti through but the shot he squeezes off as he is closed down drifts wide of the far post.

17:05Joe Thomas

A full house of changes - still 4-4-2

A full house of changes at the break.

Harry Tyrer is in goal, we have Roman Dixon at right back, Welch and Holgate in the middle and Young at left back. In the middle are Iroegbunam and Garner with Harrison on the right and Ndiaye on the left. Beto and Chermiti are up front.

16:51Joe Thomas

Flashbacks from last season

What looks likely to be Everton's second half XI is out on the pitch warming up now. A frustrating half from Everton, who had plenty of chances - McNeil and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both missing 1v1s and the excellent home goalkeeper Walsh saving well from Doucoure and Maupay too. Missed chances and an opposition goalkeeper having an brilliant day - getting serious flashbacks of last season here.

16:48Chris Beesley

Not-so-happy homecoming for Coleman so far

So Everton are left to rue a series of wasted chances - we've been here before - in the first half and find themselves 2-0 down at the break.

I wonder how many changes Sean Dyche will make for the second half?

16:46Joe Thomas

Walsh saves AGAIN

Everton have a late chance to pull one bacj with McNeil getting an opportunity to send a free kick in from the Everton left after Metcalfe wins a free-kick. Campbell's stooping header is dealt with by Walsh but after the ball is cleared once again, it ends up at the feet of Maupay - who forces Walsh into another good save.

16:44KEY EVENT

2-0 to Sligo

The hosts double their lead. They come forward and Patton has too much time on the edge of the box. His drive is palmed out by Virginia but Patton reacts first and taps into the net.

16:43Joe Thomas

Coleman flying down the wings again

Coleman hits the deck hard after more good work from Metclafe leads to him slipping his overlapping captain in down the right. Elding's lunge is misstimed and sends Coleman flying - his knee taking a divet out the turf as he lands. Fortunately he gets up and he looks OK. Coleman is trying to gee up his teammates and is pushing forward much more in these late stages of the first half. McNeil's free-kick is cleared.

16:41Chris Beesley

Calvert-Lewin works an opening

Calvert-Lewin goes close again, picking up the ball down the left, cutting inside and then curling his shot over the bar.

Given the current scoreline, it will be interesting to see just how many minutes he and Maupay are given this afternoon.

16:39Joe Thomas

Better from Everton who threaten down the right again

So, so close to an equaliser! Doucoure feeds Gueye in the middle, who slips the ball out to the right and the lively Metcalfe. He cuts inside before finding Coleman on the overlap. Calvert-Lewin beats Walsh to the cross but can only flick a looping header just wide of the far post.

16:38Chris Beesley

Poor from Blues

Fresh from getting his yellow card for his heavy challenge, Everton left-back Eli Campbell almost plays his goalkeeper Joao Virginia into trouble with an under-hit back pass.

These kind of fixtures are big tests for for fringe players like him.

Sligo, as Joe has just described, ended up scoring from the corner and McNeil who was guarding the near post will be disappointed not to have done better when it came to keeping Pearce's effort out.

16:37KEY EVENT

A clever flick from a tight angle

It was Luke Pearce who got the goal. The corner was sent in at mid-height towards the near post and the Sligo #11 latches on to it with a clever flick that sneaks in at the near post.

Everton almost respond immediately but Metcalfe flashes a chance across the face of goal.

16:35KEY EVENT

1-0 Sligo

There really is some feistiness in this all of a sudden,. Gueye concedes a corner and is involved in his own shoving match in the process. Keane heads the ball away well but Henry-Francis strikes the clearance goalwards from distance and it is blocked out for another corner.

Which Sligo score from

16:33Joe Thomas

A bit of bite as Campbell goes in late

It is Virginia who is called upon now as a ball in from the Everton left drops to Elding in the box. He has too much space and an age to wait for the ball to drop to him. He meets it on the volley but Virginia gets down low to save. The flag then does go up.

Oh - now we have a bit of bite - Eli Campbell catches Elding with a late, poor tackle. That incenses the hosts and leads to a fair amount of shoving Campbell is booked for the foul and a Sligo player, I am not sure who, is booked for the reaction.
