A number of weekly payments are due to receive a substantial boost starting next month.

These increases were part of Budget 2025's cost of living package, which saw ten social welfare boosts in recent weeks. These included double payments for carers, pensioners and Child Benefit.

The hikes to weekly social welfare payments will kick in from Wednesday, January 1 and equate to an annual increase of €795 per year, taking into account the Christmas bonus.

Four welfare payments - Maternity Benefit, Paternity Benefit, Adoptive Benefit and Parent's Benefit - will see a €15 weekly increase. All four payments will rise from €274 per week to €289 per week.

Meanwhile most other weekly social welfare payments, including Jobseekers and the State Pension, will see increases of €12 per week. Weekly rates of Child Support Payment (previously known as Increase for a Qualified Child) will increase by €8 to €62 for those aged 12 and over, and by €4 to €50 for those under 12.

Also kicking in on January 1 will be a €60 hike to the weekly income thresholds for the Working Family Payment regardless of family size. The Domiciliary Care Allowance is also set to increase rise by €20 per month.
