Five groups of social welfare recipients will not be eligible for welfare increases announced in this year's budget.
Several measures were introduced for people to help with the continued cost of living crisis, as well as energy credits and more.
One of the biggest social welfare changes comes into effect on January 1, 2025, when an increase to the core social welfare payment will go live for most, but not five welfare groups.
Those in receipt of any of the Back To School Clothing and Footwear Allowance, Child Benefit, Fuel Allowance, Living Alone Increase or Island Increase will not get any increase.
The maximum weekly rate of Maternity Benefit, Adoptive Benefit, Paternity Benefit and Parent’s Benefit will increase by €15.
The Increase for a Qualified Child (IQC) will be renamed the Child Support Payment. The weekly rate will increase by €4 from €46 to €50, for children under 12 years of age. It will increase by €8 from €54 to €62 for children aged 12 years and over. Every other weekly payment will increase by €12.

Child Support Payment
There are also severeal increases to monthly payments including a €20 boost to the Domiciliary Care Allowance, while the Annual carer's allowance is increasing by €120. The Working Family Payment income limits will increase by €60 a week, while next July the Carer's Allowance income disregard will increase to €625 for a single person and €1,250 for a couple. Carer’s Allowance will also become a qualifying payment for Fuel Allowance.
