The final cost of living bonuses announced in Budget 2025 will be paid from today.

The Government included a total of 10 cash boosts in their €2.2 billion cost of living package. These included the October double week and bonus payments for carers and recipients of the fuel allowance. The final two cost of living boosts will be paid from today. This includes the Christmas double week which will be to 1.38 million people on primary weekly welfare payments.

These include pensioners, people with disabilities, carers and lone parents. You must be receiving your qualifying payment for at least 12 months to receive the bonus. It is paid automatically, so there is no need to apply for it. In 2024, the Christmas Bonus is 100% of your normal weekly payment.

The minimum Bonus amount that will be paid is €20. You should receive your Christmas Bonus this week on the day you usually receive your social welfare payment.

Recipients of the Fuel Allowance, Working Family Payment, and Maternity Benefit are excluded. However, a one-off cost of living lump sum will be paid to recipients of both Fuel Allowance and Working Family Payment in November.

Meanwhile, over 660,000 families will receive their second double Child Benefit payment of €280 per child tomorrow, Tuesday December 3rd. The first double Child Benefit payment was issued in November.
