The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Southampton FC 1 - 0 Ipswich Town FC

16:07

Southampton have started this half in a rather conservative fashion, as they try to figure out how Ipswich are going to approach this half.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

16:05

The teams are back out on the pitch for the second half, and Southampton kick-off to get us back underway!

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:56

Looking to the second half, Russell Martin will be wanting his team to get that decisive second goal to put them in total control. His side has the quality to do just that, but they have only shown glimpses so far. Kieran McKenna will be disappointed that his side hasn’t pulled a goal back yet, so will be looking for an early response in the second half. They need to make their pressure and set-pieces count if they want to get anything from this game.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:54

45 minutes gone here at St. Mary’s, and the home side are leading 1-0 and are leading well. In fact, they could have and probably should be leading by more. The game started with Ipswich looking bright and getting themselves forward early on. Their joy was stopped very quickly, however, when Lallana found Dibling in the fifth minute with an inch-perfect pass. Dibling built on his good showing last week by cooly tucking the ball past Muric to make it 1-0 to Southampton. Ipswich brushed off the goal and continued attacking, but the pressure amounted to nothing, a common theme of this first half. Archer rounded Muric in the 27th minute but stumbled as he took his shot and saw the effort stopped by the post. Ipswich are still in the game thanks to that post, as they are playing better attacking football out of the two teams.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:47

CHANCE! O’Shea rises highest from a corner and looks to have put the header on the wrong side of Ramsdale, but the Saints’ goalkeeper gets across to get his hands on it.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:44

Davis is finding it hard to break down the left side of the pitch, every time he goes forward, he is closed down by two or more players. Brilliant management from Russell Martin to keep that avenue quiet.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:42

Another half-chance for Southampton, Lallana slices his shot on the edge of the box, which causes it to float in the direction of Dibling again. He contests the header but can’t get any contact on the ball.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:39

Not much happening as the game edges towards halftime; Southampton are more than happy to sit on their lead until the interval.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:38

Dibling has once again shown his quality in this game, as he nearly breaks out of a tight area. He was brought down and looked to be in pain—if only he was wearing some shin pads!

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:36

The overall balance of the game has become much more equal as Southampton have grown into the game after going ahead. Archer hitting the post has given them the belief to go and get another goal, it seems.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:32

Fraser goes down under a challenge in the air from Morsy, it looked painful, but Fraser gets back to his feet promptly, and the game is resumed.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

This has been a great game for a neutral so far. Both teams realise how important a win could be, and they are both going for it!

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:31

OFF THE POST!!! Archer nearly makes it 2-0! He is played through the middle of the Ipswich defence and rounds Muric, only to see his effort hit the upright as he falls to the ground. SO close!

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:26

Southampton are enjoying a spell of possession now, which has been hard to come by during this half.

Ipswich play a risky game themselves as Muric gives his midfielders a questionable pass which nearly causes an issue for the away side.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

Kieran McKenna will be pleased with his side's response to going behind but will be majorly disappointed with the way they conceded that goal considering how much stronger they have looked in this first half.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:17

The ball hasn’t left the Southampton half since their goal, Ipswich are piling on the pressure!

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:16

WHAT A CHANCE! Szmodics misses a sitter! Burns crosses into Szmodics but his free header is tame, and Ramsdale collects with ease.

15:14

The pace has calmed down slightly as Ipswich try to build more structured attacks.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:11

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:05

Szmodics is involved again as he sneaks in at the back post, but his shot is poor in the end.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

15:03

There is an early offside flag against Szmodics as Ipswich looked to go forward early on.

KICK-OFF: Ipswich get us underway!

The teams are out on the pitch and we're ready for kick-off!

Jack Stephens is suspended after his red card against Manchester United, so Harwood-Bellis comes into the backline to replace him. Brereton Diaz and Ugochukwu also drop out in place of Lallana and Fraser as Russell Martin attempts to freshen his squad up. Tyler Dibling starts again after a very impressive performance last time out, he will want to repay the faith that his manager has put in him. Archer starts up top again despite his penalty miss previously. As for Ipswich, there is only one change to note: Kalvin Phillips misses out on the matchday squad, and Cajuste replaces him in midfield. Delap has looked strong in attack for Ipswich, he begins up front again with an unchanged bank of three behind him. Burns, Hutchinson and Szmodics support him from behind, and the rest of the team also remains the same as their 0-0 draw with Brighton.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

14:39

Kieron McKenna, like his counterpart, has had a tough start to the season but can boast two important points from the opening four games. Although it is still early in the season, Ipswich sit outside of the relegation zone after a 0-0 draw away at Brighton in their last game. They have shown glimpses of quality in attack after scoring early against Manchester City and Fulham, but they couldn’t capitalise on their advantages. Similarly to Southampton, Ipswich will see this game as a big chance to get their first win of the season after coming close in recent weeks.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

14:39

Russell Martin has had a torrid start to this Premier League season; Southampton sit in the pits of the table, only saved from the bottom spot due to goal difference. They have lost all four of their games in the league and have only scored once. In their previous game, they saw a first-half penalty saved by Manchester United’s Andre Onana before conceding minutes later. They went on to lose the game 3-0 to further dampen spirits on the South Coast. Today will be seen as a huge opportunity to pick up their first points of the season as they face a fellow promoted team.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town

14:33

The last time these two sides faced each other was on the 1st of April, when both teams were in the Championship. The game ended in a 3-2 win to Ipswich, which completed the double over Southampton for the campaign after a 1-0 win earlier in the season. There have only been six head-to-head meetings since 2011, and the results have been evenly split, with both teams winning two games and two games ending in a draw.
