A COMMUNITY in south Mayo can look forward to having a new all-weather sports facility.
Shrule Community Partnership CLG Ltd. are proposing to construct a new all-weather astro sports facility (61m x 41m) in the village, with perimeter fencing, floodlighting and ball netting.
The plans also include a new two-metre wide pedestrian walkway around the perimeter of the astro facility.
A planning application is currently before Mayo County Council for consideration.
The development provides for a new car park with 47 spaces, including three parking spaces designated for persons with adapted requirements.
There will also be a setdown area for drop off associated with the adjoining national school in Shrule.
Also in south Mayo, the board of management at Robeen NS is looking to develop an all-weather astro playing field, with an application for planning approval before the local authority.
