Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the signing of Micky van de Ven from Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg.

The deal, which awaits international clearance and a work permit, sees the defender commit to the club until 2029, donning the number 37 shirt.

Born in Wormer, Netherlands, the 22-year-old centre-back began his football journey at WSV '30 Wormer.

He later moved to FC Volendam’s youth team in 2013, eventually making 48 senior appearances and netting two goals.

Following an impressive tenure, van de Ven transitioned to VfL Wolfsburg in 2021. During his time with the German club, he made 41 appearances across all competitions, scored once, and provided three assists.

Internationally, van de Ven has represented the Netherlands’ Under-21 side 11 times, even featuring in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

His performances earned him a spot in the preliminary squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

In an exclusive interview with SPURSPLAY, the Dutchman's enthusiasm for joining Spurs was evident.

He remarked, "Every time I see a player sign for Spurs, I think, ‘wow, it would be amazing to sign for an amazing club like that’. I’m so excited to be part of the future of Spurs.”

He further expressed admiration for the team's playstyle under manager Ange and spoke highly of the quality present in the Spurs squad.

Van de Ven, who gained experience under former Dutch midfielder Wim Jonk at Volendam and later in the Bundesliga, believes that the Premier League will offer unique challenges.

He stated, “Every player will be top, so I have to be ready for this stage. To play every time against a top club, and playing for a top club, for me, it’s an incredible feeling to be in the Premier League.”
