Weather Alerts Ireland warned of "bad news", forecasting "unsettled" weather on its way. They warned of flooding risks in parts of Ireland, including the west.

Weather Alerts Ireland: "Some bad news. Unsettled weather is set to return to Ireland on Thursday and over the weekend!

"Risk of flooding returns in the South, West and South West in particular. I will keep you up to date with the latest over the coming days."

Elsewhere, the unprecedented weather patterns brought by Storm Bert and the coming Storm Conall continued as the UK saw a 21-degree Celsius temperature difference on Wednesday morning.

Areas of Scotland were still -8C, while southern England was hitting +13C. BBC Weather highlighted the incredible event: "We've got a 21 degree temperature difference across the UK this morning. Very cold and frosty in northern areas while much milder in the south."

And Met Eireann's warning over Galway came into effect in Galway at 4pm on Wednesday and runs until 6am on Thursday morning.

The Status Yellow - Fog warning was issued to Connacht, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath and Wicklow.

Met Eireann warned of patches of fog and freezing fog, which would thicken throughout Wednesday evening and night.

It will be cold on Wednesday night with widespread frost and some icy patches. Fog is likely to form extensively, turning dense in some areas. Lowest temperatures of -3 to zero degrees generally with light and variable winds at first but freshening southeast winds developing towards dawn on Thursday.

And there'll be some hazy sunshine to start the day on Thursday. However, outbreaks of rain and drizzle will extend from the south during the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with fresh and gusty southeast winds developing and gales in Atlantic coastal areas.
