Amy Dowden left viewers in tears on Saturday night as she made a surprise appearance during the Strictly Come Dancing final on Saturday.
The professional dancer, 33, who has been a pro on the hit BBC One series since 2017, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer earlier this year. Amy was unable to have a celebrity partner on Strictly this year following her diagnosis and subsequent cancer treatment.
However, despite not being partnered with a celebrity on the show this year, Amy has still been involved in the series as she has regularly been seen on the balcony, supporting the stars and her fellow dancers behind the scenes.
Amy, who recently finished her eighth and final round of chemotherapy, was planning on performing on Strictly during the final this weekend but was unable to after she fractured her foot in November. However, Amy was still able to be involved in a surprise on Saturday as she joined the pros during their routine in the background.
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to share their joy. One person said: "Actually crying at Amy being back on stage #Strictly #StrictlyFinal." Another wrote: "Amy Dowden, The Queen! #StrictlyFinal #Strictly" with heart emojis while another added: "It’s got me all emotional seeing Amy in the pro dance."
Elsewhere, one viewer said: "So many tears shed already….and that’s just for AMY #strictly" with a heart, another fan wrote: "Did I just scream and burst into tears when I saw Amy? YEP #Strictly #StrictlyFinal #StrictlyComeDancing," while another added: "Literally burst into tears at Amy appearing in the final professionals routine. #strictly."
Earlier this week, Amy had teased the surprise during an appearance on Lorraine, saying: "I've got a little surprise moment in the final and even that, I was there on Monday and I was with Jason Gilkison, and I just burst into tears because you know, I have had what I love the most taken away for me. I just find that so cruel!"
At the end of the interview, host Lorraine Kelly teased further: "We're not going to give it away but on Saturday, look out for a wee surprise from Amy!"
