It looks like there won’t be an eventual That ‘2000s Show.

Netflix has swung the proverbial axed on spin-off sitcom That ’90s Show, which was a sequel from Fox’s long-running That ’70s Show set in the mid-1990s. It aired for two seasons (and 26 episodes), and is now the second failed continuation from That ’70s Show following the one season That ’80s Show on Fox in 2002. The moral of this story: No more spin-offs are necessary!

Debuting on January 19, 2023, That ’90s Show centered on Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), the teenage daughter of Eric Forman (Topher Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon). Original castmembers Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty) and Kurtwood Smith (Red) returned as series regulars, while Wilmer Valderrama (Fez), Mila Kunis (Jackie), Ashton Kutcher (Kelso), Don Stark (Bob) and Tommy Chong (Leo) all guest-starred. Prepon also directed 10 of That ’90s Show.

“I’ve loved every minute of getting to bring Grandpa Red to life for you all. I’ve said it before but it’s worth mentioning again…this show had so much heart behind it and the most wonderful cast, writers, directors, producers and crew an actor could hope to work with,” Kurtwood Smith posted on Instagram. “Thanks for letting Red and Kitty, their grandkid, all their grandkids friends and neighbors, the original cast members of That ‘70’s Show and all of our wonderful guest cast members entertain you for two seasons. To steal Red Forman’s words…we aren’t going to be dumbasses…we will shop the show, because good grandparents would try hard to get these kids graduated from high school.”

The now series finale of That ‘90s Show dropped on Netflix on August 22.
