Posting to Instagram, the band shared a poem:
"Like a shooting star across the sky,
In a second you were gone,
Why do stars that light up twice as bright ,
Only burn for half as long."
Fans have mourned the star's passing in the comments of the post.
One wrote: "It doesn't seem possible that it has been a year already. You will always be missed and forever loved, Mark."
Another added: "A year ago today the world lost one of the rare souls who truly lives every day like it’s their last. Knows what they have whilst they have it and inspires people they’ve never met to chase their dreams but more importantly to make a difference. Mark you are so missed."
A third said: "Saw you guys on your first ever tour when I was 17 in Manchester Apollo and I'm 32 now and you have got me through some hard times. I'll forever be grateful for what you gave the world."
This day last year, the band released a statement, saying: "Much loved husband, father, brother, band mate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness. The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time."
Danny and Mark were best friends since they were 12 growing up in Dublin when they formed part of a boy band called Mytown in 1996.
The pair lived in Los Angeles and worked there as producers. They wrote and produced songs for performers including Britney Spears, Boyz II Men and TLC.
They later moved back to Dublin, where they recruited drummer Glen Power for their new band The Script. The Script's eponymous debut album was released on 8 August 2008.
Mark was married to Rina Sheehan and he has three children named Cameron, Avery, and Lil.
