Concert tickets disappear from Arizona man's Ticketmaster account

SHOW LOW, AZ (AZFamily) — A Show Low man purchased tickets to a concert using Ticketmaster, but his tickets were somehow stolen from his account.

It seems to be part of a growing trend.

Jonathan Person is puzzled and frustrated. He spent $410 for two tickets to see the band Korn at Talking Stick Amphitheater.

His purchase got off to a rocky start.

“So I’m looking at my account and I don’t see the tickets in the Live Nation account,” Person said. “It just says, please wait. They’re going to be there soon. They’re going to be there soon.”

Although Jonathan never saw the tickets on his phone, he and a friend made the road trip to Phoenix, expecting the concert tickets to eventually pop up.

Instead, he got an email from Live Nation, the owner of Ticketmaster, says his tickets were transferred out of his account to someone named “A.P.” But Jonathan says he never transferred the tickets to anyone.

“And then we’re just sitting in this hotel room down in Phoenix, twiddling our thumbs, thinking, I can’t even have my fun that I was promised six months ago,” he said. “I don’t know what’s going on here, man.”

He’s not alone.

Morgen Bernius, a Maryland mom, was heartbroken when Taylor Swift tickets she’d surprised her daughter with were transferred out of her Ticketmaster account weeks before the concert.

“The tickets were gone,” she said. “Gone. I could cry right now thinking about it. Yeah. You know, it was devastating.”

Vanishing tickets have been an issue across the country, with people posting about it on TikTok.

Ticketmaster says most complaints are resolved in about 48 hours, with customers getting their tickets back.

But that didn’t happen for Jonathan, who has been waiting to get his $410 back for the past two months.

So, Jonathan’s friend recommended contacting On Your Side.

“He’s like, ‘man, this is ridiculously frustrating,’” he said. “‘I don’t know what to do. You don’t know what to do. But I’ve seen On Your Side work before, and it’s at least worth a shot to go out to that, man.’”

On Your Side reached out to Ticketmaster, and they’re looking into this situation.

As soon as they locate and return his money, we’ll let you know in a follow up news report.
