Todd Cantwell suffers mortifying Hotline indignity as diehard sides ...

Chris Sutton and Todd Cantwell's handbag-swinging has caught the eye of the Hotliners and it doesn't seem like either of them are covering themselves in glory.

John Henderson, Neilston, said: "As a Rangers man, I find myself agreeing with Chris Sutton's comments about Todd Cantwell's stupidity in trying to get involved with the media. As a new Rangers player he has a long way to go. Start doing it on the park and then he can make his comments. In fact I'd prefer if he just kept quiet."

Jimmy Mac, Glasgow, said: "Chris Sutton needs to admit to himself he is 100 per cent an attention seeker and a Celtic cheerleader. He plays up to Celtic and their fans every week without fail, which is undeniable but the statement regarding Cantwell's "bang average career" from an ex-player who cost Chelsea £10million in 1999 plus £10 grand per week salary and only scored ONE GOAL? Chris, the old adage 'people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones'. Chris is throwing rocks. You are throwing rocks Chris."

Paul McCormack, Coatbridge, said: "On paper looks like Rangers have signed up a real manager in Phillipe Clement, with a CV to back up why he was hired. One of his first jobs surely must be to reign in one or two of his players social media content. They need to have more influence on the field first and put their media influencer ambitions on the back burner."

Talking of Clement, Barrie Urquhart , Clydebank, is unconvinced, saying: "Clement is totally the wrong fit for the club. He has no knowledge of the Scottish game apart from speaking to Thomas Buffel. So, four trophies in seven seasons is okay but he failed miserably at Monaco and if he couldn't get a tune out that squad, what chance has he got in Scotland with Lammers, Dessers and Cifuentes? Time will tell. I would love to be wrong but can't see it."

But Gordon Ferguson, Kilwinning, said: "Rangers can get a convincing home win to Hibs and with the crowd behind the new manager it's going to be game on. Let's not forget, the Celtic fans will turn on Brendan and the first sign of Rangers catching up and winning trophies."

Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said: "Silly season is usually at the start of the season but this year we’re getting twice from the delusional Rangers fans. Once again the new manager is going to make them the dominant force in Scottish football and turn the players they have been slagging off all season into world beaters? There’s certainly no other fans like them."

Henry Moffat, Stirling emailed: " It always make me laugh, the deluded usual suspects who try to black out the champions utter dominance over their smaller Glasgow cousins with European put downs. Our Champions League record blows them away and that’s the only one that counts, so good luck slugging it out with Aris in the Mickey Mouse Cup while we play the big boys!"

Alan Flett hit back with: "I’m not an arrogant Rangers fan, I’m just stating facts. The history books will tell you that Rangers are the biggest and most successful Scottish club. It’s only been during our periods of weakness that anyone else has got a look in. Celtic have benefitted for the last decade, and back in the early 1980’s both Aberdeen and Dundee Utd had their 15 mins of fame because we couldn’t compete due to having to rebuild Ibrox."

John Bruce emailed: "I think I touched a few green nerves with my recent comments on the Hotline by mentioning 'Treble' and 'equal points in our Europa League group'. My point wasn't that Rangers will now win everything, following the appointment of the new manager, but that they have everything to play for as there is still a chance of a domestic treble and of qualifying from their European group. Can Celtic say the same?"

Charles Buchanan emailed: "Regarding Hearts cutting the away allocation. They should remember small clubs rely on Celtic and Rangers away fans to survive. They will be wanting them back when they find themselves out of the top six and season tickets sales drop."

Neil Renton, Leith, said: "I agree with Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell who hopes keeper Liam Kelly returns from Scotland duty an improved keeper. After getting beat 4-1 by France, Kelly should be better at picking the ball out of the net. Ideal for Well’s current form."
