Tom Cannon is back in the fold with Ireland after a spell away where the Leicester City striker took time out to assess his options as he has been called up for senior duty by John O'Shea.

O'Shea today named his squad for the friendly games against Hungary and Portugal and while there's still no place for Leicester City attacker Kasey McAteer, the presence of U21 cap Cannon is a positive.

Cannon made his U21 debut in a friendly last year but then opted out of Ireland duty as the then Everton man wanted to assess his options.

Fleetwood Town 'keeper David Harrington has also been called up to the senior squad, cover needed in that area as Gavin Bazunu is injured.

Liam Scales is back in the squad but Alan Browne missed out. Troy Parrott will join the squad after completing his club season in Holland with Excelsior.

Andy Moran has also been promoted from the U21 squad while Bosun Lawal and Josh Keeley will train with the senior squad before reporting for U21 duty.
