Luka Vuskovic spotted at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Everton ...

24 Dec 2023

Luka Vuskovic was in attendance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday to watch Tottenham defeat Everton 2-1. Signed from Hajduk Split in September in a deal worth £12million, it will be some time before the talented 16-year-old defender is in London on a permanent basis.

Due to FIFA rules, Vuskovic, who stands at 6ft 4ins, will have to wait until he can arrive in England in 2025 when he is 18-years-old. At present, the defender remains with Hajduk and he will be looking to continue his development in his home country before eventually swapping Split for Spurs.

As the Croatian league is currently on pause for their winter break, Vuskovic used the opportunity to go and watch Spurs take on Everton in the Premier League. Taking to his Instagram Stories ahead of the match, Vuskovic could be seen in the stands gazing at the pitch as the players went on their pre-match walk.

He again took to Instagram after the game to post a video of the full-time celebrations inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following the team's hard-fought 2-1 win over the Toffees.

Vuskovic will have been impressed by what he saw from Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou's team played some very nice football at times to cause Everton problems. Taking the lead early on through Richarlison before Son Heung-min made it two nine minutes later, the Lilywhites managed to hold on despite some intense pressure from the visitors after Andre Gomes had reduced the deficit.

Vuskovic will of course be keeping one eye on events at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium up until he arrives in England in 2025. For now, though, his priority will be to continue to progress as a player at Hajduk Split before he finally departs Croatia.

Making his mark in the Hajduk first team last season as he made 11 appearances for the club and become their youngest-ever goalscorer with a goal in their cup quarter-final against NK Osijek, the Split-born player has unfortunately yet to make an appearance in the first team this term. He has made the matchday squad on six occasions, however.

Despite his lack of action in Mislav Karoglan's side, Vuskovic recently got minutes in the tank as he represented his country in three UEFA Euro Under-19 Championship qualifiers. He has also featured regularly for Hajduk's Under-19 team in 2023/24 and demonstrated that he very much has an eye for a goal and is also the perfect Postecoglou defender.

Scoring a double in their 5-2 win over HNK Sibenik in November, later in the month he got an assist to his name as he teed up attacker Lovre Loncar in a 2-1 win away at Rijeka. A month earlier, he showcased his ability to get on the ball, push up from the back and test the goalkeeper in their defeat to NK Mladost.

Having seen Tottenham in action on Saturday against Everton, Vuskovic will be counting down the days until he has the opportunity to take to the pitch himself and make his senior debut for the club.
