GM says Bills to let Von Miller ‘legal process play out’ | ESPN

Von Miller is at the Bills’ facility and will be available for Sunday’s game at the Chiefs amid an investigation into the alleged assault of a pregnant woman last week, general manager Brandon Beane said Wednesday.

“We weren’t there. We’re not the investigators,” Beane said. “We don’t, obviously, you know, we had our conversations with Von and understood what he believes happened and so, from that standpoint we can’t get into it. It’s an open investigation, and so we’ll just, we’ll let the legal process play out, and he’ll participate like normal in practice.”

Beane also said that the team has been in “constant communication” with the NFL and that the Bills do not anticipate that Miller will be placed on the commissioner’s exempt list. He said that they would allow the investigation to play out and would follow the lead of the NFL.

Cowherd believes those same stars will align for the Chiefs, as they face an inconsistent Buffalo Bills team in Week 14, followed by matchups against career backup quarterbacks such as Bailey Zappe, Aidan O’Connell and Jake Browning.

“It’s [been] sort of bumpy [with the Chiefs], and then [they will] start putting W, after W, after W,” Colin said. “I think the Chiefs will win this weekend [against the Bills], my money [is] on the 8–4 Chiefs to win the AFC.”

Buffalo Bills (+2.5) at Kansas City Chiefs

The Bills come off the bye, while the Chiefs come off a tough loss to the Packers on the road. The Bills need this in the worst way for their playoff hopes, while the Chiefs need it for seeding. This will be a high-scoring game, which will be won by the Chiefs late. It will be a classic.

I think the Chiefs are in a zone right now where they’re looking for answers, and now they have to face a Buffalo team that, frankly, given the standings, needs this game a lot more than they do.

In Sunday’s heartbreaker in Green Bay, Isiah Pacheco had his best outing since Week 4, putting up 110 rush yards and a touchdown on 18 carries for an impressive 6.1 yards per attempt. With the Chiefs’ passing attack leaving much to be desired of late, Pacheco has become a focal point. His ejection in the fourth quarter for throwing a punch wasn’t ideal for a team playing catch-up. Here’s hoping he can control his emotions moving forward.

DT Chris Jones: Chicago Bears

Chris Jones tops the free-agent Big Board as one of the most dominant interior pass-rushers in the game. He also makes this list as one of the few elite players who feels primed to actually leave his team.

The 29-year-old means a lot to the Chiefs, but they’ve also shown a willingness to let good players go. Last season, they traded away Tyreek Hill before going on to win another Super Bowl.

Jones staged a lengthy holdout at the beginning of the season that resulted in him missing the first game against the Detroit Lions. The Chiefs didn’t end the holdout by extending him, they simply added incentives to the final year of his current deal.

The Mississippi State product recently told media that he understands this could be his final year in Kansas City. After eight seasons with the Chiefs, it’s hard to see him on a rebuilding team.

The Chicago Bears would be contenders. Matt Eberflus’ defense has a 4-3 base, like the Chiefs. Trading for Montez Sweat gives them a pass-rushing foundation that would be enhanced by Jones.

However, it’s still fair to question whether the timelines match up for Jones and Chicago. The Bears are still unsettled at quarterback with the potential to have the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft, and the jury is still out on Eberflus.

Jones will be looking for a multi-year deal just as he turns 30. He makes a lot of sense for a team competing in 2024, but it isn’t clear the Bears will be that kind of team.

Head coach Robert Saleh announced Wednesday that Wilson will start Sunday’s home game against the Houston Texans.

“Zach gives us our best chance to win,” Saleh said. “Giving him another opportunity to go prove that.”

The move back to Wilson comes two weeks after the Jets benched the former first-round pick in favor of Tim Boyle. Gang Green demoted Wilson to third-string QB the past two games, with Boyle getting the start and veteran Trevor Siemian as the backup.

After the Boyle experiment failed miserably, leading to the QB’s release on Tuesday, and Siemian showed no better in a relief appearance, the Jets will give Wilson another shot at redemption.
