Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold played from the start during England's 1-0 win against Serbia at Euro 2024. The 25-year-old was deployed in the middle of the park alongside Declan Rice, and Alexander-Arnold showcased several long-range passes in his 68 minutes on the pitch.

Jude Bellingham got the only goal of the game for Gareth Southgate's side, and England somewhat labored against Serbia. Impressive in the first half, England retreated in the second and allowed its opponent more time on the ball. By the end. Serbia looked the better side, and England was happy to leave with the 1-0 win.

Alexander-Arnold has been used by Liverpool primarily as a right-back, yet Southgate has mostly used Alexander-Arnold in midfield, where his passing can be best used effectively.

Alexander-Arnold took to social media after the game, posting a picture of himself and Bellingham celebrating the Real Madrid man's goal. The celebration, which the cameras initially missed, was based on a card game the Three Lions play. Bellingham explained the meaning behind the celebration, saying: "When we play [the card game] Wolf, one of the staff loves that face when he doesn't have a clue what's going on," Bellingham said live on BBC One when asked about the celebration. "That was kind of a group celebration for the Wolf group!"

Alexander-Arnold wrote the word 'arrived' under the caption, with Bellingham and Rice reacting to the post, with the former responding simply responding with the number eight, while the latter replied with a heart eyes emoji.

Bellingham and Alexander-Arnold are close friends, with the two spending a lot of time together away from the pitch at the last World Cup in Qatar and also in this tournament. There had been some discussion about whether the Liverpool star could play in midfield, but Bellingham has little doubt, and defended Alexander-Arnold in his post-game interview with ITV Sport.

England now faces Denmark on Thursday night in Frankfurt, and should Southgate's side win, then qualification to the round of 16 will be secure. Liverpool fans will also be hoping that Alexander-Arnold is handed another start by Southgate and that Joe Gomez gets some minutes, after the center-back was left as an unused substitute in the Serbia game.

Liverpool.com says: It's good to see the support for Alexander-Arnold from his teammates publicly. He wasn't brilliant nor bad against Serbia, and hopefully he will get another chance in midfield against Denmark on Thursday.
