Dana White announced that Shavkat Rakhmonov will face Ian Machado Garry in the co-main event at UFC 310.
The UFC president confirmed the news after Belal Muhammad was forced to withdraw from the card taking place during the early hours of Sunday, December 8 with an infected toe which required hospital treatment.
It is now being reported that the winner of the bout between Rakhmonov and Garry will face reigning welterweight champion Muhammad next year.
Garry was scheduled to fight a week later in Tampa against Joaquin Buckley, and now gets the showdown he craved with Rakhmonov. Buckley will now headline the Tampa card with a fight against Colby Covington.
Both fighters head into this clash unbeaten, with Rakhmonov and Garry boasting 18-0-0 and 15-0-0 records respectively.
The Kazakh most recently beat Stephen Thompson via submission - being the first fighter to do so - at UFC 296 last December.
Garry last fought in June when he overcame Michael Page courtesy of a unanimous decision at UFC 303.
Meanwhile, the new main event for this card in Las Vegas sees flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja defend his title against Octagon debutant Kai Asakura.
The other fights on a stacked card include a heavyweight match-up between former interim champion Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov.
There is also a welterweight bout between Vicente Luque and Nick Diaz, along with a featherweight clash between Movsar Evloev and Aljamain Sterling.
The full and revised UFC 310 card is as follows:
