Thurles singer Una Healy has said moving back to Tipperary and next door to her parents was “the best decision I ever made”.

Speaking in an interview with the Irish Independent recently, The Saturdays singer and her two children, whom she had with her ex-husband, former England rugby player Ben Foden, moved back to Thurles in 2020, two years after their marriage ended.

“It’s amazing that they [children Aoife Belle and Tadhg] are co-living with my parents, who live next door. It’s a lovely dynamic and it’s how we do it,” she said.

Healy co-parents with Foden, who lives in the US with his new wife Jackie and their daughter Farrah.

“It’s quite a unique situation because we’re not living in the same country, we’re living on different continents,” Healy said.

The singer went on to describe herself as the “primary carer”.

“They’re living with me full-time and they see their dad at Christmas and summer and whenever he’s back to visit. It’s not the same for me as it would be for a lot of people, but it’s not easy for anyone in that situation, you just deal with it the best you can,” she said.

“The most important thing for me is my children and their happiness and their stability, and we have found that in Ireland. It was the best decision I ever made to move back here – to be at home with my family and my parents.”

Earlier this year, there was intense media focus on her relationship with British boxer David Haye. They were described as being in a throuple – something Healy says was never the case.

She previously said that period, when there was constant media speculation about her personal life, was the “worst six months of my life”.

“That’s all in the past and it’s about focusing on the present and the future,” she finished.
