Una Healy Opens Up On 'Weird Encounter' With David Hasselhoff
Una Healy has detailed the strange encounter she had with American actor and singer David Hasselhoff at the height of her career with The Saturdays.
The Tipperary native led the line-up on The 2 Johnnie's debut episode of their new RTÉ show, Late Night Lock In, and chatted about her move back to her native town of Thurles before playing a game with the podcasters turned TV show hosts.
In the quiz game, Johnny Smacks asked the singer about the 'weirdest encounter' she ever had with a celebrity, to which the singer easily named David Hasselhoff -- who invited Una and her bandmates for dinner and left without paying.
'He invited me and the girls out for dinner and he turned up and he didn't pay for anything,' Una shared, 'He just... left.'
Despite leaving the band front the bill, the Baywatch star was good enough to leave them each with a souvenir to remember him by.
'What he did actually do was leave us all a memorabilia of a little vest with like diamané's of "Don't Hassel the Hoff,"' Una recalled, prompting a round of laughter from the hosts as well as the audience.
'So, yeah, that was a strange encounter like, yeah. He invited us -- and left. And we paid the bill, y'know?'
Fellow Tipperary stars The 2 Johnnies have risen to the top of the Irish entertainment ladder, hosting their own 2FM show as well as having launched their own festival, Pints in a Field.
Their latest venture comes in the form of their new show, Late Night Lock In, which sees the pair welcome guests and viewers inside their local for a six-part series.
Comedian Seann Walsh is also set to chat to the pair before the night is out, as is GAA icon Marty Morrissey who is sure to bring the Marty Party.
Elsewhere in Una's chat with the lads, she discussed moving back to Thurles having spent 13 years in the UK for her band duties.
'Thurles is my home, and it always will be,' she told the pair who followed up to jokingly ask if she ever feared her children, Aoife Belle and Tadgh, would grow up with English accents.
'Aoife has a full-blown Thurles accent -- her accent is more Thurles than mine,' Una shared, adding that Tadgh still has a hint of an English twang.
Una's appearance on the show comes not long after she was DJed at an event on Wednesday, sharing snaps alongside Johnny O'Brien's ex-girlfriend, Shauna Lindsay.
The pair dated for over a year, keeping their relationship very private, but it is understood their romance has come to an end in recent weeks due to their hectic lives resulting in struggles for the pair to meet up.
Goss.ie reported: 'They split up a few weeks ago and they wanted to keep things private.
'They have always been private about their relationship and tried their best not to draw media attention, and they feel the same way about their breakup.'
