Pidek Named Under Armour #HLBASE Pitcher of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After a monumental win against the Wright State Raiders, Hunter Pidek earned his second Under Armour #HLBASE Player of the Week honors this season.
With the honors, Pidek becomes the only Horizon League pitcher to earn the award this season twice, as Oakland is now tied with Northern Kentucky with being honored on the bump three times, as Brandon Decker was recognized earlier this season.
In a dominant 19-1 seven inning win over Wright State, Pidek recorded his third quality start of the year after he pitched a complete game and allowed only one earned run. Pidek entered the bottom of the seventh, up 19-0, as he gave up the sole run off a home run but continued to deal and secured the Golden Grizzlies win. In the win, Pidek let up only five hits and walked none, while he struck out a pair of batters in the win.
Pidek and the team look to build off its 3-1 week, after it won the series against Wright State and had a program victory over Michigan State, as the team is set to travel to Milwaukee for a weekend series against the Panthers. First pitch from game one is set for 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 5.
