Players at Walnut Creek experienced 53 mph gusts, making it one of the toughest qualifiers of the day, with scores above par taking the medalist honors. Amateur Jimmy Makloski, an assistant golf coach at the Air Force Academy, shot 1-over 73 to claim the medalist honors.
