Moses discusses his goals at his new club

Victor Moses is targeting Premier League football once more after returning to England to join Luton Town.

The 33-year-old has not played in the second tier since leaving Crystal Palace for Wigan in 2010, but after a trophy-laden career playing top-flight football in England, Italy, Turkey and Russia, the former Nigeria international wants to eat at the top table once again with the Hatters.

“I’m very excited and I can’t wait to get started,” said Victor. “I’m looking forward to it, it’s a pleasure to be here. It’s a good time for me to be in the country and start to enjoy my football again.

“After Luton were in the Premier League last season, and coming back down to the Championship, the main objective now it to try and help the club go back up to the Premier League again.”

Having watched several of the Town’s matches last season with his friend and former Chelsea team-mate Ross Barkley in the team, Victor went on: “I thought Luton did well last season, and were just a bit unlucky sometimes. With most of the boys that were playing, it might have been their first time playing in the Premier League, but it was a good experience for the boys.

“But you know what, football is like this sometimes. They were just a little bit unlucky not to stay up last season.

“I thought the boys did fantastically well, but this season’s target now is to focus more on the game on Saturday coming up, and just taking each game as it comes and try to get back up into the Premier League.”

With almost 550 career appearances to his name, Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League winner’s medals on the mantelpiece and having been to World Cups, AFCON and played in the Champions League, the former England Under-21 international has an impressive CV.

“It’s time for me to start working hard and help the lads with the experience that I’ve got,” he said. “It’s a collective as well, so we all need to work together as a team and individual as well. If we can work together as a team, we can easily achieve whatever we want this season. It’s all about desire. The ambition is there.

“Technically every single one of the players here are very good. I’ve trained with the lads and the mentality is very good, so we need to kick on now from Saturday and try to go back into a winning situation again.”

Top of his priority list for starters is to enjoy his football again, stressing: “I just want to play football. I’ve always said that, I just want to enjoy it.

“Whatever minutes I get, I just want to go out there and help the lads. That’s the most important thing and I’m fit, ready to go and I want to play football and help the team, make sure we win as many games as we can this season.”

And on what our supporters can expect from their new signing?

“Hard work, dedication, desire and I just want to do as much as I can to help the lads and the fans to win games,” he adds. “That’s what the fans want to see, is winning games and I’ll do the best I can. It’s all about collectiveness. If we can pull it together as a team we can achieve whatever we want.”
