Experts have warned of a dangerous weather event that could see a storm sent into Ireland over the next week as Met Eireann issue a forecast update.
According to the latest weather models, there is a possibility that a storm will be sent over to Ireland on Sunday continuing into Monday and Tuesday.
While experts have stipulated that the prediction is 'a long way off' and that there is still uncertainty, the risk remains for a storm to impact the country by next week.
Weather Alerts Ireland issued the forecast on Monday in a post on social media which read: "The latest 18Z GFS evening model is following the European evening Model guidance and sending the storm over Ireland on Sunday into Monday!
"Still a long way off and it could all change so I will keep you all up to date!"
Then in a follow-up post they corroborated their forecast as they said: "Here is the latest on the position of the centres of the storm that is forecast for Sunday.
"Pictures show the ECMWF, GFS and UKMO
"Still a lot of uncertainty on the path of this system and intensity but the risk remains for a storm to impact Ireland on Sunday/Monday and possibly running into Tuesday.
"I will continue the updates throughout the week!"
