Ireland storm alert amid 'very deep low system' and severe weather ...
Ireland could be in the path of some very stormy weather next weekend amid a severe change in fortunes after last week's sunshine.
Much of the country basked in 25C for at least four days last week but things have turned cooler since and may well take another turn for the worse this week.
Weather Alerts Ireland are among the forecasters watching a potentially stormy spell on weather models. They posted: "The weather is expected to change over the coming week with much cooler and more unsettled weather forecast.
"From next weekend there is a risk of some stormy weather as a very deep low pressure system is forecast to push close to Ireland."
However, they concluded by saying there is "so much uncertainty on this at the moment, so I will be watching closely."
While Met Éireann has predicted a "marked drop in temperatures with cold nights on the way later in the week," they also hint at windy weather at the weekend.
Their forecast says: "Current indications suggest Saturday will be a bright cold day with sunny spells and a few scattered showers, and the chance of wet and windy weather for Sunday next."

In the meantime, they say it will be "overall dry tonight [Monday] with clear spells, but some patches of mist, fog and drizzle. Some showery rain feeding into northern and northwestern fringes too. Lows of 6 to 10 degrees in just a light northwesterly breeze."
They predict "well scattered showers and some spells of hazy sunshine [on Tuesday]. Highs of 12 to 16 degrees in a light to moderate west to northwest breeze. In the evening, cloud thickening from the southwest.
"On Tuesday night, outbreaks of rain may affect southernmost parts of the country and there's likely to be a few scattered showers in the north too. Elsewhere, it should stay largely dry with variable cloud, and some mist and fog patches forming, in a light northerly or variable breeze.
"Some uncertainty in the detail of the forecast mid-week but there's likely to be some rain or showers at times on Wednesday and Thursday, possibly heavy, and it will gradually turn colder. Chilly moderate to fresh north to northeast winds will set in on Thursday too.
"Thursday night will become dry with clear spells, apart from some showers continuing on Atlantic coasts. As the wind moderates, lowest temperatures will fall to between 4 and 7 degrees.
"A chilly start to Friday with sunshine and scattered showers following for the day. The showers will be most frequent in the north and west. Cool with highs of 9 to 13 degrees, with moderate northwest winds. Cold after dark, with a touch of grass frost possible overnight, as temperatures fall to the low single figures," they added.
