Forecasters have extended the nationwide Status Yellow warning for low Temperatures and Ice, which is now in effect until 12 pm on Friday. The snow and rain warning for Cork and Waterford has also been extended until 2 pm today.

A Status Yellow for wind and rain is in place from 10pm on Friday with Storm Bert to being very strong winds across the country with localised flooding, travel disruption and fallen trees among expected impacts.

It was previously predicted that temperatures would increase at the weekend, rising back up to 13C on Saturday, but with the latest update from Met Eireann it seems like wintery conditions will be with us until next week at least.

There have been disruptions across Cork city and county, including delayed opening hours for schools and heavy snowfall across the county.
