There’s a nice moment that has both players grinning. Chardy takes too long challenging so Alcaraz does it for him! It doesn’t affect the outcome as the Spaniard wins the point with a thumping forehand winner en route to a love hold that clinches the second set.

A first ace and a wicked first serve do the damage as Chardy clocks up just his second game of the match from another tough situation at 30-30. Alcaraz will now serve for a two-set lead.

An electric forehand around the net post is again too hot to handle for Chardy and concludes another rampant hold. It’s simply a matter of how long this match lasts at this juncture.
