Meet the Murphys: Everything we know about Cillian Murphy's wife ...
Cillian Murphy’s family are well-known for keeping a low-profile, with the Oscar winner rarely sharing details of his families life publicly.
So it was very rare indeed, to see the whole family out in force at Sunday night's Oscars.
Wife Yvonne, and sons Aran and Malachy, walked the red carpet with the Oppenheimer star, and were later mentioned in his acceptance speech for the best actor gong.
"I want to thank my incredible team," Murphy said. "Yvonne McGuinness, my partner in life and art, my two boys, Malachy and Aran, who are sitting up there. I love you so much."
Here’s everything we know about the Murphy family.
Yvonne McGuinness

McGuinness, who is from Kilkenny, has also made a career in the arts. A visual artist, her website bio states she works “with place, time and community”. Her work encompasses film, performance, sculptural and textile elements, sound and writing.
Her most recent exhibition, REHEARSALS, was on show at the Butler Gallery in Kilkenny last year, and the artist said a “legacy of political engagement” fuelled that work. Indeed, people may be familiar with some other members of her family through the political sphere.

She went on tour with Disco Pigs, and married Murphy in 2004.
A year later, their first son Malachy was born, and Aran came along in 2007.
The couple lived in London for 14 years before moving back home in 2015.
Speaking to Dax Sheperd on the Armchair Expert podcast, in what later became a viral moment for the Corkman, he said he and Yvonne “wanted the kids to be Irish” and this influenced their decision to leave the UK.
“They were sort of at that age where they were preteens and they had very posh English accents and I wasn’t appreciating that too much," he said.
Malachy and Aran

The actor did tell Rolling Stone last year that his sons like "some" of his films, adding that they say his films are "really intense".
We do know Aran is set to follow in his dad’s footsteps, with his acting career seeing him travel around the world before he was even a teen.

Speaking to The Guardian about the run, Cillian said son Aran was “so chilled about" the whole thing.
"He would come off stage and ask what the score was in the Liverpool game.”
Cillian admitted he was, "slightly jealous", of his son’s attitude saying, “there’s the danger that overanalysing everything can erode the simplicity.”
Aran Murphy, son of Cillian Murphy will hit the big screen with the movie adaptation of Klara and The SunAran's first feature film role was in 2022's Lola, but his real breakout is soon on the horizon as he has been cast in the film adaption of Kazuo Ishiguro's Klara and the Sun. Directed by Taika Waititi, he will star alongside well-known stars like Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams.
