Zara McDermott shaken after 'vile' Christmas Eve attack by unknown ...
Zara McDermott has taken to social media to reveal she was ‘spat on’ by a man while out doing some Christmas shopping on Tuesday.
Branding the incident which occurred on Christmas Eve ‘vile’, the 28-year-old Love Island star informed her two million Instagram followers of the unprovoked attack.
Out at Lidl with her brother’s girlfriend Alice, the documentary maker was stunned when a man on the street ran up and spat on them without any warning.
‘Guys, me and Alice are actually really shocked at what just happened. We were just getting some last minute christmas bits just walking down the street.
‘Normal, normal stuff and this guy out of nowhere runs up to us, spits on us. Thankfully it just missed because of the wind and then walked off in the other direction. I can’t believe it,’ she said.
Captioning the video on her story, Zara said with a crying emoji: ‘No I’m shocked!!! What is wrong with people?’
Later returning to her story with a screenshot of a DM from one of her followers who condemned the man’s ‘misogyny’, Zara admitted that she was grateful that she wasn’t alone at the time.
‘Merry Christmas!!! I’m still kinda in shock that someone could do that… I think I would have been really shaken up if alone!
‘Luckily I was with Alice! Had so many messages from other people having experienced the same thing in London,’ she said.
Zara added: ‘I’ve heard of men approaching women on the street and hitting them in the face also (a friend of mine had this happen to her). It’s completely vile!’

‘Heading back to Essex for Christmas to spend some much needed switch off time with my family. I’ve been so looking forward to spending Christmas with them.
‘I know I’m 28 now and my brother is 24 but we still have the same Christmas traditions we do each Christmas that haven’t changed since we were little…
‘Not ready to give that up just yet (or ever). There’s nothing more magical than waking up in your childhood home and having some festive magic with your family,’ she said.
