This week, Alex said that he will miss his Coronation Street dressing room when he leaves the ITV soap opera. And he added that he is glad to have more time to film scenes before he officially leaves.

Alongside a photo of his dressing room mirror on set, he said: "Well my day is done! Nice and short day today! I'm gonna miss this little space [so] dearly when I go!"

"So glad I've got some shooting days left! So thankful."

At the beginning of the year, Alex hinted at his long-term future on Coronation Street. In an Instagram Q&A, he said: "Adore my job I do! So glad to be back @coronationstreet for my first-day shooting of 2024."

He continued: "Such a good year ahead."

Alex also praised his long-term co-star Chris Gascoyne, who played his on-screen father Peter Barlow.

He said: "@christgascoyneofficial is one of the most amazing and complete actors I've had the pleasure of working with on Corrie! He is one of the utterly incredible people I had the joy to learn and hone the craft of acting with, and I will always be grateful for all he has done."

It is currently unknown when Alex will leave the cobbles.

Recently, Simon Barlow confessed to driving with young Sam Blakeman drunk. He pleaded guilty to the crime and he managed to escape being sent to prison.

However, he was sentenced to 80 hours of community service, as well as a six-month driving ban. In attempt to turn his life around, he has sought guidance from a group known as The Institute and its leader Rowan Cunliffe.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and Virgin Media One.
