TikToker Beasteater, aka Stephanie Margarucci, explained jokingly in a video posted on TikTok on March 24 that she jumped into a vat of acid, harming her face in the process. She started sharing videos on Saturday (March 23) that showed burns on her cheeks, nose and chin.

In reality, the bruises on her face were due to chemical burns and bacterial infection from using an expired product, Distractify reported. The report claims that the TikToker initially used an expired facial product that caused burns on her face. She then used a steamer on the burns which resulted in the infection spreading into her bloodstream and almost killing her. She did not specify which product she used, but the report claimed that it expired in 2020.

"Shoutout to the hospital I wouldn’t be here without medicine," she wrote in the very first video she posted after the incident, without mentioning further details.

"When you get a chemical burn all over your face and it turns into an infection that started to spread through your bloodstream and almost killed you," she wrote in another video, providing more information on the matter after concerned fans started flooding the comments with messages.

Finally, the social media star posted a final video where she sarcastically explained that the bruises were actually from jumping into a vat of acid. She said to her 20 million followers on TikTok that she was at a chemical plant with a lover who told her that if he really loved her, she would jump into the vat. Continuing on what was clearly the origin story of Joker and Harley Quinn, the two DC Comics characters, she told her fans that as soon as she jumped into the vat, the man followed her.

"I dived into, like a front backflip, dolphin dive, flip — Straight into the acid," she said. Then he jumped in and after me. So we're both just sitting in the acid, and he kissed me. That's why I look like this!"
