Happy Spider Cup kicks off football season

The format for the trophy has changed and will see an under-30s select team play against an over-30s select team - chosen from current players in the Arran league. Kick off for the match on Saturday April 6, will be at 3pm at the Ormidale park in Brodick.

The highlight of the day will be an extended half-time show as there will be a short game where some of the island’s retired footballers will roll back the years to play a match.

Teams will be decided on the day with Stevie Crawford and Chris Marriott captaining the teams - along with involvement from a number of other well-known faces.

A licensed cash-only bar will be available at the park from 2pm until 7pm with profits going to Arran Football Association.

The fun afternoon of football will also include a presentation for last year’s player and young player of the year awards.
