League of Ireland

Hello there. It has been the most fascinating Premier Division title race in years and tonight promises to be unmissable viewing as all the protagonists are in action.

Just three matches remain and – despite recording one win in 10 – Shelbourne are clinging on to top spot on 54 points with Derry City and Shamrock Rovers two points off Damien Duff’s side, while St Patrick’s Athletic and Galway United – who face off at Richmond Park – two further back.

Tolka Park plays host to Waterford in front of the Virgin Media cameras, Derry are on the road to take on relegation-threatened Dundalk and the Hoops travel to Weavers Park for a meeting with Drogheda United.

There’s also a full round of fixtures in the First Division, where the regulation season will be wrapped up. Cork City are set to finally lift the trophy in front of home fans at Turner’s Cross, and the four play-off places have already been secured by Wexford, UCD, Athlone Town and Bray Wanderers.

As always, Independent.ie will provide live updates from the grounds with the help of our team of football writers, who have all returned from international duty.
